Batch-process multi-page InDesign files into separate PDFs

Applications: Adobe InDesign CS/CS2, Acrobat Professional 7/8
Operating Systems: Macintosh, Microsoft Windows

In the February article, “Automate Acrobat to batch process InDesign files to PDF,” you explain how to export multi-page InDesign files into a single PDF. A magazine I print likes to have separate PDFs for every page. Is it possible to batch process multi-page InDesign files to make separate PDFs? Let me know if you have any ideas.

I think your best bet is to export your InDesign file to PDF. Then, use Acrobat to extract the pages to create separate PDFs.

To batch extract the pages from a PDF using Acrobat:
1. Open the multi-page InDesign PDF in Acrobat.
2. Choose Document > Extract Pages.
3. Enter the page range in the From and To fie...
