I’ve heard a rumor that Adobe is going to release Photoshop over the internet. Is this true?


What you’ve heard is news, not rumors. Adobe does plan to release a web-hosted Photoshop service in the coming months.

Adobe has already released Adobe Remix, a free web-based video editing tool. They’ve partnered with Photobucket, ( a web service where folks can create and share video with the online community such as private blogs, message boards, and online social networks such as MySpace. A press time Remix is only available to Pro users of the Photobucket website.

The web-hosted version of Photoshop will follow the course of Remix as it’s geared to the private consumer who wants basic image-editing capability, but doesn’t want to pay for it. So, instead of charging, Adobe will offer these packages for free and then rely on ad revenue to buffer the cost.
