I want to emboss an image but when I apply the Emboss layer style, I don’t get the effect I was expecting. Instead of the entire image embossing, just the edges emboss. Am I missing something?


You must be getting confused between the Bevel and Emboss Layer style and the Emboss filter. It sounds like you are applying the Bevel and Emboss layer style. Even though you can choose Emboss as an option, the layer style still only embosses the edges of your document, as shown in Figure A.
