Remove or hide unwanted layer styles quickly (CS/CS2/CS3)

You can use Photoshop’s layer effects—such as Drop Shadow and Bevel And Emboss—to enhance your images quickly, but what if you decide later that you don’t like the layer style? When it’s time to say farewell to an unwanted layer style, you’ve got options!

 

Refresher: A layer style is one or more effects applied to a layer or layer group.

 

To remove or hide a layer style:

     [ctrl]-click ([Right]-click in Windows) on the layer style and choose Clear Layer Style from the pop-up menu to remove all layer styles from that layer.

     Click and drag the entire layer style or an individual effect to the trash icon located at the base of the Layers palette to delete.
