Adobe Photoshop CS/CS2/CS3/CS4

Operating Systems:

Macintosh, Microsoft Windows

You can use the History panel to create a new document from the current state, but what if you want to create a new document from just a single layer? That’s also a simple task when you use the Duplicate Layer command.

To make a new document from a single layer:

1.   Select the layer from which you wish to create a new document.

2.   Choose Duplicate Layer from the Layers panel’s pop-up menu. Alternatively, you can choose Layer > Duplicate Layer, or simply [control]-click (right-click in Windows) to access this command.
