Photoshop Extended 3D settings may require a video card upgrade

Posted on 11 August, 2010

Application:

Adobe Photoshop CS5

Operating Systems:

Macintosh, Microsoft Windows

I’d like to create 3D text in Photoshop CS5 Extended but the Repoussé command is inactive. Can you explain why?

In order to use Repoussé, you need to enable Open GL Drawing. Unfortunately, doing so may not be as simple as it sounds; you may need to upgrade your video driver or video card. A quick look at the Photoshop Preferences should verify that.

Choose Photoshop > Preferences > Performance (Edit > Preferences > Performance in Windows). If the Enable Open GL Drawing setting is grayed out, as shown in Figure A , then this is most likely the culprit.
