Want to get that perfect cut out? If so, try your hand in this new tool in Photoshop CS5, Masking. This tool will provide you with everything you need to put in place a perfect cut out. So much so that you can do so even with the most detailed edges you encounter; take for instance this dog which has strands of hair. This could just be your first move towards coaching yourself professional photo editing and image effects.  Just follow this 9-step tutorial and you’ll be right there!

Here’s how you can get a perfect cut-out.

Step 1

Take a photograph of a lapdog and open it in Photoshop. Please respect copyright laws.

Step 2

Select Lasso Tool.

Step 3

Use the Lasso Tool to create a selection around the dog.

Step 4

Now, add the layer mask by checking, Add Layer Mask.

Step 5

Create a new layer and drag it below Layer 1.
