Enhance your InDesign layouts with a surface refle

Adding a surface reflection to an image is a great way to enhance your designs. But don’t think you need to visit Photoshop for all of your imagery tricks; you can do this right in InDesign. It’s easy too! We’ll show you how to put forth minimal effort to create the phone reflection, shown in Figure A.

Reflect on this
To make the reflection shown in Figure A, we first have to place and position the Aphone image. To follow along with our example, download the file reflect.zip from the URL given at the beginning of this article. Extract the file phone.psd and launch InDesign. (Images provided by PhotoSpin. Some images modified for educational purposes.)

To place and position the image:
1. Create a new 8.5” x 11” InDesign document.
2. Choose File > Place.
3. Select the Show Import Options check box located at the base of the Place dialog box, navigate to the file phone.psd, and click OK to display the Image Import Options dialog box.
